Guido, or Giz as he's known to his friends, is a multi instrumentalist who has played in the world of folk, folk-rock and rock for over forty years.
For the last few years Giz has been plaing with Rincon & co. and earlier this year released a new album called Flowing Waters.
Previuosly he was an original member of Shave the Monkey who played together for over 15 and recorded four albums. Like all good things this came to an end in 2003 but have reunited on a few occations over the years. The last and final reunions were for a couple of concerts one at the end of 2019 in Ruiselede, Belgium and one in the begining of 2020 in Cambridge.
After Shave the Monkey split Giz played in Ian Cutler's Slaughterhouse and recorded a live album in 2003. "I am very proud of this album, it was taken straight off the desk with no overdubs." Unfortunately, due to the band members living all over the UK and beyond, it meant that this project was difficult to maintain; however, there may be a posibility of Slaughterhouse playing a concert or two in 2022. Watch this space!
In 2014, along with three other members Shave the Monkey and two good friends formed a new six piece folk-rock band called CarnaC.
Giz was a member of Albion Morris Men for over twenty years before calling it a day in 2003 however, before retiring Albion Morris recorded an album at Graeme Taylor's Morden Shoals Studio called 'Still Dancing after all these years" "It was great fun recording along with Graeme, John Davie, Shirley Collins, Tom Leary, Micjael Gregory and John Watcham"
Giz can also be found plaing in the various ceilidh/barn dance bands such as Springloaded.
Giz is also a photographer and you can see a selection of his photographs at Guido M Rincon Photography. |
