The Kentuky was my first bouzouki which I bought from Hobgoblin at
the Cambridge Folk Festival. I had always wanted to play the bouzouki
after listening to Donal
Lunny play in Planxty. This Bouzouki saw
many years of service and was only retired when I bought my Bartram
Double neck.
Back in the 70s when playing in Barnet Fair I
had a spell of sharing the bass duties with the mandola player. Being
students we could only afford this cheap and nasty bass
guitar. I remember the original neck was so warped, we had to remove
the frets to compensate for the internation. Eventually, I replaced
the neck but decided it was not worth any further investment.
